Unique sculptures created using copper that has been recovered from Cornish shipwrecks.
The century old copper has been sat on the seabed for many decades and has been at the mercy of the winter storms and waves, this has created a very unique texture, patina and Verdigris.
The ships were often driven ashore and wrecked on the treacherous Cornish coastline or torpedoed by the German U-Boats that patrolled this area during the First World War.
Once the copper has been recovered from the seabed using SCUBA diving equipment, it then has to be declared to the H.M. Receiver of Wreck who tries to find the legal owner of the shipwreck. If no owner can be found, the item is then awarded to the finder in liew of salvage.
Not only is each sculpture totally unique, they are also a living piece of history and each one tells the story of the ships demise.
